Carolina M Barata, age 43, of Plymouth, formerly of Salem died early Monday morning, December 13, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Taceta, Azores, the daughter of Leonel and Maria (Gois) Barata, Carolina was raised and educated in Salem. A fun loving person with a big heart, she loved everyone and loved life. She was a hard working person devoted to her family, friends and responsibilities who always had time to be kind and generous to the homeless.
In addition to her parents, Carolina is survived by four sisters and a brother Maria LaFortune of New Hampshire, Angela Kugel and her husband Scott of Salem, her twin sister Teresa Liparote and her husband Tony of Lake Elizabeth, CA, Antonio Barata of Salem, and Cristina Mirante and her husband Ricardo of the Azores Portugal; a special friend Christine Pelletier of Salem and several loving nieces and nephews including Melissa Kugel who she thought of as the daughter she never had.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 12:15 P.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. in St. James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be private.
