David A. Armstrong

David A. Armstrong, age 67, of Altmar, passed away December 4th at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. David was born January 4, 1943 to Arnold and Verna Barnard Armstrong. He married Lindy Anson on September 15, 1962. David resided in Potsdam from 1970 until 2004 when he moved back home to Altmar. He graduated from APW High School and Syracuse University School of Forestry. He started working for Niagara Mohawk in 1965 and in 1970 became a regional Forester for Niagara Mohawk in Potsdam until his retirement in 1999.

David loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting and fishing with family and friends. David was an avid woodworker spending hours in his shop building furniture for his family and friends. David's other hobby was making maple syrup, which he started with his father and passed on the tradition to his children and grandchildren.

Surviving, his wife of 48 years, Lindy, one son Aaron and Kris Armstrong of Oswego, two daughters, Alena and John Bicknell of Potsdam and Suzette and William Nichols of Cicero, one sister Merilee and Thomas Heath of Lynchburg, VA, and eight grandchildren, Matt, Megan, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Connor, Cameron, and Brayden. His first great grandchild is due to arrive in June 2011.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar. Donations may be made to the Susan B. Koman for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 65265-0309.
