Richard F. Alzapiedi, 94, died Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Radius Healthcare Center, Worcester, following an illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. (Bobeck) Alzapiedi of Sterling; a daughter, Sandra A. Flink of Leicester; three grandchildren: David R. Flink of Worcester, Darlene M. Bruce of Rochdale, and Douglas E. Flink of Auburn; seven great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Kimberly Flink of Worcester, Scott, Erin, and Matthew Bruce of Rochdale, and Douglas and Daniel Flink of Auburn; a brother, Raymond T. Alzapiedi of Sterling, a sister, Helen M. Cristy of Worcester; several nieces and nephews.
Richard was born and raised in Clinton, the son of Albert and Margaret (Freel) Alzapiedi. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1933.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving with the Army Air Corps.
For many years until his retirement, Richard worked as a heavy-equipment operator for various construction companies throughout the New England region.
Richard was a member of the American Legion, Post 189, Sterling; The Blue Knights of MA, Chapter II; a former member of the Morgan Horse Association and a former parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, Clinton.
A private funeral service and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton is assisting the family with arrangements.
