Marvin C. Bireley, age 69, of Glen Mills, a longtime wholesale florist and Vietnam Veteran, died July 21, 2010 at home. Born in Ridley Park, he lived in Aston before moving to Glen Mills where he has lived for 60 years. Marvin attended West Chester Joint Junior/Senior High School, while in school he worked at Hildamear Gardens in Wawa, Pa. Upon graduation he joined Chessick's Green Houses in Gradyville, where he worked for 50 years. He worked at Scallans and Wedgewood Gardens until he retired. In 1965 he was drafted into the Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Written on a Certificate of Achievement "Specialist Four Bireley when asked to deal with problems beyond normal duty hours and normal demands of his job designation, responded with remarkable energy, flexibility, and sound judgment. His accomplishments and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself". He was the son of the late Marvin S. and Helen Miller Bireley. Survived by sister Betty R. Bireley of Glen Mills, brother George W. Bireley of Bechtelsville, Pa. Niece Robin Landino of Gilbertsville, nephew Jamie Bireley of North Carolina. 5 Great-nieces 1 Great-nephew.
