JAMES “J.D.” ASHBY, longtime resident of House Springs, Missouri was born August 21, 1925 in Centertown, Kentucky to Otie Welborn and Mary Inez (nee Tishenor) Ashby and died Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Simi Valley California at the age of 84 years 5 months and 8 days.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otie and Mary Ashby, his wife, Margaret L. (nee Hopper) Ashby (Died September 20, 1992) and several siblings.
He is survived by two (2) sons, James Ashby of Moorpark, California and Douglas Ashby of Independence, Missouri, two (2) granddaughters, Mindy Ashby and Sheena Hayes, one (1) sister, Martha Christian of Indiana and many other relatives and friends.
As an Assembler with Chrysler Corporation, “J.D.” relocated Margaret and his family to the St. Louis area and ultimately House Springs in 1959. In this community they raised a family, attending First Baptist Church in House Springs, Missouri while “J.D.” was active in the High Ridge Elks and High Ridge Eagles. It was only in the last several years, for health reasons, that “J.D.” began spending less time in House Springs and significantly more time in California, closer to his son, James.
Visitation Wednesday, February 3, 2010 5-8 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO 63016, Highway 30 West 19 Miles from I-270. Service Thursday 10:00 a.m. followed by Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
