Martin Walther Richard Rohlfing, son of Alvin and Anna Rohlfing, was born June 15, 1917 in Kansas. He passed away November 5, 2009 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City at 92 years of age. Martin lived in the Appleton City, Missouri area most of his life where his father was a Lutheran minister serving the Prairieville and Appleton City churches. He married Ethel Irene Hearting May 5, 1949 and to this union six children were born. Martin worked as a mechanic on tractors and farm implements. He also worked as a truck driver for EFD. Later he worked for other farmers providing custom baling and help in the field when needed. Martin and Ethel were active in leading the St. Clair County 4-H clubs for many years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton City and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Preceding Martin in death were his parents, his wife, one son Alfred Rohlfing and two brothers, Walther and Victor Rohlfing. Survivors include one sister Dorothy Todd of Appleton City; five children, Richard Rohlfing, Roger Rohlfing, David Rohlfing and wife Theresa all of Appleton City, Anna Mason and husband Bill of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and Irene Komer and husband Tim of Clinton, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Angela Rohlfing, Victoria Rohlfing, Amanda Johnson, Sheila Doll, Samuel Mason, Martin Komer and Rebekah Komer; and several great-grandchildren.
