Bill Doyle Barnes

U.S. Veteran Bill Doyle Barnes, 66, of Fort Smith, formerly of Bella Vista, went to Heaven on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. He was born May 31, 1943 in Midland, Arkansas, to the late Bonnie Tanner. He grew up in Mansfield, Arkansas. Bill worked as a dump truck driver for Arkola Sand and Gravel in Fort Smith until moving to Northwest Arkansas in 1997, where he worked as a self employed dump truck driver-owner. he loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his grandchildren and loved to play music and was a gifted guitar player and singer. His precious little dog "Jigger" was always by his side! He is survived by the love of his life, his loving wife; Linda; sons; William C. Barnes and John G. Beshears and wife Angie all of Fort Smith and Larry Ray Payne and wife Flossie of Colorado; daughters; Lori Hamel and husband John and Julie Howard and husband Allen all of Fort Smith; and a daughter in law; Victoria Barnes; his grandchildren; Lynsey and Logan Barnes; Azasha and Justice Beshears; Eli, Abby and Seth Howard, Kelsey, September and Hayden Hamel; his sisters; Wynona Cunningham of Mansfield and Nona Barnes of Greenwood; cousins; Danny Joe, Button and Carol Slate; and many neices, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; Bonnie Tanner and brother Larry Hattabaugh. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Hwy Fort Smith with interment at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Midland, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be John Hamel, William Barnes, Allen Howard, Hayden Hamel, Ralph Pyles and Travis Pyles. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m.until 8:00 p.m. Sunday ONLY.
