Nellie Fisher (February 15, 1921 - November 4, 2009) Guest Book | Sign Guest Book | Send Private Condolences Nellie Fisher, age 88, of Michigan City, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at her home in Michigan City. Funeral services are Saturday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Carroll officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City. Nellie was born February 15, 1921 in Selmer, TN to James and Deccie (Wardlow) Milligan, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 1, 1939 in Tyronza, AR she married Geroge W. Fisher, he also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Piekielniak of Michigan City, Wilma (Doug) Hilbish of Michigan City, and Alice Fay (Larry) Westergren of Chesterton, grandchildren Dr. David Drake, Pam (Jon) Sissons, Beth (Marc) Cizewski, Becky Piekielniak, Mary Ellen (Paul) Tilden and Jonathan (Christy) Westergren, great-grandchildren Patrick, Tessa, Greta and Petra Tilden, Alison, Riley, and Brady Westergren, Jackson and Evan Cizewski, Zach Sissons. She was preceded in death by her son-in-laws Don Drake, and Eugene Piekielniak, and her grandson Donald Drake. Mrs. Fisher moved to Michigan City in 1952 and was employed at Burnham Glove and Zip Food on Elston St. She was appreciated by all of her customers and known as the “Zip Lady”.
