Arraby Kelly (August 9, 1905 - November 3, 2009) Sign Guest Book | Send Private Condolences Send Flowers Arraby Provine Kelly, age 104, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in the presence of family member and caregivers. She was born in Quanah, Texas, on August 9, 1905, to William Claiborne Provine and Nannie Kennedy Provine. By age 9 both parents had died and she was taken to Forth Worth, Texas, where she was raised by aunt and uncles, primarily B.D. Kennedy and family. Following completion of high school she began working to help her brother, Cecil Provine, complete his education at T.C.U. She met and in 1930 married her husband, Jack Kelly. Mr. Kelly worked with the Fort Worth National Bank, rising from Teller to Senior Vice-President. With Arraby’s assistance, they were active in family owned ranch and dairy ventures, as well as numerous civic and charitable activities. In 1984, Jack and Arraby, affectionately known to family and friends as “R.B.”, moved to El Paso to be closer to family. Jack passed away in 1988. Arraby was also preceded in death by her siblings. She is survived by her only child, Keith K. Gallagher, and husband, James L. Gallagher of El Paso. Also surviving are grandsons, J. Kelly Gallagher and wife, Christine Connor, of Austin, TX; Kevin L. Gallagher of Eldorado Springs, CO; W. Claiborne Gallagher and wife, Cynthia Butterworth Gallagher of El Paso, TX and one granddaughter, Gage M. Young and husband, Spencer Young, of Emmett, ID. Her eight great grandchildren are Ryan Gallagher, Maggie Gallagher, Casey Gallagher, Abby Gallagher, Carver McLeod, Mahra McLeod, Caden Young and Cora Young. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Arraby’s caregivers and physicians. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 , from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, TX. Open Graveside Service will be held at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, NM at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 7, 2009, with Rev. Ron Thomson presiding.
