Virginia Lillian Metzger, born Dec. 2, 1918, in Portland to parents Jim and Lillian Cobb, passed away on Oct. 27, 2009, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and David Burr, in Corvallis.
Virginia's life was fulfilled with her children, grandchildren, friends, family gatherings, gardening, homemaking, shopping, cooking and lifetime membership at the First Presbyterian Church.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Helen Burr, and son-in-law, Dave Burr, of Corvallis; daughter Donna Miller and son-in-law, Ken Miller, of Roseburg; son John Metzger and daughter-in-law, Karen Metzger, of Roseburg; grandsons Donald Neuner and Charles Neuner, wife Christine Neuner and great-granddaughter Grace Lillian Neuner; nephews James B. Oerding and Billy Oerding; niece Priscilla Markham; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald Vance Metz-ger; grandson Michael Metzger; sisters Naomi Oerding, Hildred Beauchamp and Helen Graham; and parents, Jim and Lillian Cobb.
Her life was blessed by her husband, children, family and friends. Her pleasures were many, and she was always active and full of life.
