Wylie Lee Bethel

Wylie Lee Bethel, 72, died November 1, 2009 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born April 9, 1937 at Great Bend, the son of Luther "Bill" and Opal (Bryant) Bethel. He married Rita Marie Debes February 23, 1963. She died November 28, 2001. Mr. Bethel was a lifetime resident of Barton County, working in the oilfield and farming for Titus Farms.

Mr. Bethel was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima and was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include his mother, Opal Bethel, Great Bend, Kansas; three sons: Raymond Bethel, Great Bend; Ronald Bethel and wife Alicia, Newaygo, Michigan; and Randall Bethel and wife Michelle, Great Bend; two daughters: Ruby Alloway and husband Mark, Great Bend; and Robin Bethel, Great Bend; two brothers, Gerald Bethel, Great Bend; and Jimmy Bethel and wife Linda, Otis, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Kayle Bruinsma and husband Jon, Cody Bethel, Leaha Bethel, Dustin Alloway and wife LyNee, Brandi Alloway and companion Dustin Ellis, Trenton Alloway, Rochelle Bethel, Cheyeanna Bethel, and Kiarra Bethel; and four great-grandchildren: Taylor Alloway, Gavin Alloway, Degan Ellis, and Danyca Ellis.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Pastor Don Paden will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Funeral Expense Fund or the Fraternal Order of Eagles, in care of the funeral home.
