Donald Keith McGee

Donald Keith McGee, 72, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on August 8, 1937 in Anderson, Indiana to Alva O. McGee and Ruby Hall McGee.

He was raised and educated in Anderson, Indiana. He graduated from Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana. He married Myrna Gustafson on June 10, 1961 in Palco, Kansas. He received his teaching credentials from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and his Masters Degree from Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas. He taught in Natoma, Kansas, Oakley, Kansas, and Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of Lions Clubs International for 46 years. He was International Director of the Lions from 1991 to 1993, which involved extensive travel around the world. He was awarded the “Ambassador for Good Will” which is the highest award of Lion’s Club International in 1993. They moved to Bella Vista in 1999 and was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, and Bentonville Noon Lion’s Club. He was a Board Member of Lion’s World Services for the Blind (Little Rock, AR); and Mid South Lion’s (Memphis, TN). Don was always known for his dry humor, penchant for practical jokes, and an infectious smile. He was always loving and concerned about those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Myrna McGee of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sons, Randall McGee of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeffrey McGee and wife, Laura of Palco, Kansas; one sister, Sharon Berry of Indianapolis, Indiana.

A Memorial Service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 East Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas with Reverend Richard Lindman officiating. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas. Inurnment will be at a later date in Morlan Township Cemetery, Palco, Kansas

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lion’s Club International Foundation, 300 W. 22nd St., Oak Brook, Illinois 60523-8842 or to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762 or to the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72714.
