Clarence Oliver Hummel

U.S. Veteran Clarence Hummel, 90, of Copley, died October 31, 2009.

Clarence was born on July 20, 1919 in Homerville, OH. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Clarence and Eleanor raised their family in Copley, OH. Clarence was one of the original creators of the Copley Athletic Association and spent many hours preparing fields for baseball games and other sporting events in the 1960’s. He worked as a bus driver for the Copley-Fairlawn Schools for many years and retired as a machinist from Efficient Industries. He was a friend to all and was always there to lend a hand to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Eleanor (Bramley) in 1998 and is survived by sons, Gary (Dionne) of Grafton; Denny (Carmie) of Parma; Craig (Kathi) of Sharon Center; and David (Tina) of Sharon Center; grandchildren Renee, Lauren, Melanie, Dana, Bryan, Joshua, Jeremy, Ryan, Nathan, and Emily; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Alexis, Aeva and Alysa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11 AM at Copley United Methodist Church with Becki Bowan Verbridge officiating. A reception will immediately follow for family and friends to commemorate his long life. Private interment of cremains in Copley Township Cemetery.
