Kathryn Cobb Collins

Kathryn Alice Cobb Collins, 96, died on October 30, 2009, in Bay City, Texas. She was born January 3, 1913, in the family residence in Blessing, Texas, to Frank G. Cobb and Anna Dunn Cobb. “Kitty”, as she was known to her family and friends, attended the public school in Bay City, Our Lady of the Lake College, and The University of Texas. Following college she taught school in Blessing. In 1934 Kitty married her high school sweetheart, William Victor Collins, and they lived in Bay City for the remainder of their lives farming rice and raising cattle. Kitty and Victor had three children, Corinne, Claire, and Vic. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Vic and siblings Laverne Coale, Mary Jean Wright, Charles Cobb and Ann Vaughan. She is survived by her daughters Corinne and husband Bill Heiligbrodt and Claire Wilkins. Kitty had six grandchildren, Heather Heiligbrodt Stark, Hagan Heiligbrodt and wife Blair, Nicole Wilkins Manning and husband John, Rob Wilkins, Christian Collins Aman and husband Dirk, Victor Collins and wife Christy, and seven great-grandchildren, Avery and Blayden Aman, Barkley and Claire Manning, Grace and Kaylee Collins and Will Stark. Kitty was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and various study and civic organizations in Bay City. She loved her family, friends, Matagorda County, the State of Texas and The University of Texas. A rosary will be said at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home on November 1 at 5 p.m., and a funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on November 2 at 10 a.m. with interment at Bay City Cedarvale Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Nancy Ryman, Olivia Brown, and the staff of the Legacy Assisted Living for their tender love and care for Kitty Collins. Pallbearers for Mrs. Collins will be her three grandsons, Hagan, Rob, and Victor, Chris Coale, Matt Coale, Tim Vaughan and honorary pallbearer Thomas Jackson. Memorials may be made in Kitty’s memory to the Holy Cross Catholic School or charity of choice.
