Donald Melvin Gainous October 14, 1931 – October 30, 2009
Donald Melvin Gainous, 78 of Ponchatoula, passed from this world into his heavenly reward on Friday, October 30, 2009. Mr. Gainous served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military, he worked for 20 years with the U.S.D.A. He leaves behind daughter Donna and husband Richard Burge, son David and wife Donielle, daughter Denise and husband Philip DiBenedetto; and grandchildren Lucas, Matthew and Kristin Burge, Philip and Adam DiBenedetto, Laeken, Grant, Jordan and Faith Gainous; brother Glen and sister Margie Jenkins, both of Adairville, Kentucky and sister Barbara Knight of Franklin, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Adams Gainous, parents Jimmy and Rebecca, and brother Jerry. Visitation will be from 9 am – 11 am, Tuesday, November 3 at Geisler Funeral Home, Highway 51 South, Ponchatoula, Louisiana. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with burial at Wetmore Cemetery, Highway 22, Ponchatoula.
