Harris Paul Savoie

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas for Harris Paul Savoie, age 45, who passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at his residence in Opelousas.

Interment will be in Myrtle Grove Cemetery of Opelousas.

Mr. Savoie was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas and graduated from T.H. Harris Technical College in Diesel Mechanics in 1983. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include his mother, Verna Morris Savoie of Opelousas; one brother, Lester David Savoie and his wife, Merella, of Opelousas; two sisters, Beverly Borne and her husband, Phillip, of Opelousas, and Kathy "Cookie" Chachere and her husband, Douglas, of Opelousas; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aldus Savoie; his maternal grandparents, Laurence Morris and his wife, Dallas; and his paternal grandparents, John Savoie and his wife, Odile.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Fontenot, Jr., Christopher Dirk Ardoin, Gage Speyrer, Joe Speyrer, Mike Morris, Troy Morris, Jason Borne and Kade Ardoin. Honorary pallbearer will be Hannah Cormier.
