He was born in Seattle in 1946 to Tillie and Hank Harris and was taken home to Mercer Island. He graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1965 where he played football and basketball and was the president of his Senior Class. Bert graduated from the UW in 1969 where he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and led protests against the war in Vietnam.
Bert traveled the world and was employed in many occupations. His favorite was as a stock broker at several Seattle brokerage houses.
He is survived by his brother Charlie, sister-in-law Joti, nephews Ty and Sam, his aunt Connie Harris and cousins Shirley Wesley, Catherine Harris, Victoria Harris and Sally Harris. His many friends in Seattle will miss his interesting ways and independent spirit.
