Gordon Edward Jacobs on October 26, 2009. Age 84. Husband of the late Elizabeth W. (nee Woods). Father of Catherine B. (Jack) Helget of Franklinville, Dawn C. (Tom) Hallowell of Williamstown, and the late Gorden E. Jacobs, Jr. and Cheryl Ann Jacobs. Grandfather of 6. Great-grandfather of 2.Born and raised in Clayton, he was later a resident of Wildwood Crest and then Port Richey, FL before returning to Franklinville in 2007. He was a 1942 graduate of Clayton High School. He was a Meat Cutter for 35 years for A+P Tea Co in stores all over South Jersey before retiring from the Woodbury store in 1981. He was a member of the Sweet Water Gun Club in New Gretna and the Local 56 Union of Butchers in Maple Shade. He was also a member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Company and the NJ State Fireman’s Relief Association. He was a NASCAR fan, especially of the Earnhardts and loved watching his son-in-law Jack race Sprint Cars. Mr. Jacobs also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Eagles and Phillies.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton. Memorial service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Inurnment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
