Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday October 28, 2009, at the United Methodist Church Fireside Room with Pastor Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
Friends and family attended his visitation on Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at Winter Funeral Home, 414 First Street, Buffalo Center and also 1 hour before the service at the church.
Elmer “Chub” B. Rhubee was born on September 26, 1914 to Frank and Anna (Banda) Rhubee at Coon Rapids, IA. As a young boy he moved with his family to the rural Buffalo Center area.
Elmer served in the Army Air Force during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Her served in Australia and the Philippines. He then worked as a tractor mechanic at Jensvold, Inc. until retirement.
Elmer enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and telling stories.
Elmer is survived by his sister Regina Danger of Buffalo Center, IA and by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles, Albert, Frank Jr., and Kenneth; and by his sisters: Emma Smouse, Julia Langerman, Carrie Severtson, Tillie Curtis-Perry, and Rose Bohl.
