Lawrence "Larry" Malbrough

U.S. Veteran Lawrence "Larry" Malbrough, 71, died October 22, 2009 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born February 25, 1938 at Rayne, Louisiana, the son of Lawrence, Sr., and Anice (Jackson) Malbrough. He married Marilyn Hardy November 24, 1979 at Great Bend, Kansas. Mr. Malbrough was a retired conductor and brakeman for Santa Fe, Kyle, and Central Kansas Railroads, and worked as a machinist at Boeing after retiring. He then was a custodian for the Great Bend Public Library for the past nine years. Mr. Malbrough was a resident of Great Bend since 1978, coming from Los Angeles, California. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Malbrough attended the Myers Chapel, Great Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Malbrough, of the home; three sons: Larry Malbrough, Lancaster, California; Jamie Malbrough, Columbia, South Carolina; and Justin Malbrough, Salina, Kansas; one daughter, Laray Malbrough Murphy, Lancaster, California; one brother, Willie Jackson, Los Angeles, California; one sister, Annie Marie Hawk, Los Angeles, California; one step-sister, Natalie Lewis, Palm Springs, California; eleven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Malbrough; four brothers, Alvin, A. C., Robert, and LeRoy Malbrough; one sister, Marie Edith McClellan; and one grandson, Tabio Malbrough.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. The Reverends Leroy Keith, Loyse Clay, and William Harden will officiate. Burial with military honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Myers Chapel or Great Bend Public Library, both in care of the funeral home.
