Doris Redd Gayle, 84, of Panama City, FL passed away Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Glencove Nursing Pavilion. She was born in Blountstown, FL to the late Arthur and Eva Redd, the second of eight children. Doris was a lifelong resident of this area, a Baptist by faith, a homemaker and devoted mother to her son. She was preceded in death by husbands, Mark Eddins in 1949, and Collins Gayle in 1978, two sisters, Winifred Powell and Ruth Pennington, and brothers, Herman and George Redd. Survivors include her son, Robert Eddins, her sisters, Joan Roper and husband, Jimmy, Bobbie Marcum and husband, Don, and Gloria Pennington and husband, Horton, all of Panama City, sister-in-law, Betty Redd, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Gayle will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the Southerland Family Chapel with Rev. Don Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services, from 12 to 1 PM, at the funeral home. The family would like to express appreciation to the nursing staffs of Glencove Pavilion and Emerald Coast Hospice for their wonderful care.
