Jean M. Stickney

Jean M. Stickney, 85, of Camp Douglas, WI, died on Monday Oct. 19, 2009 at Agape Acres Assisted Living Center in Warrens, WI. She was the daughter of William and Ovina (Pedersen) Mortensen and was born Aug. 30, 1924 in the township of Orange in Juneau County. Jean was raised in the Camp Douglas area and graduated from Camp Douglas High School in 1942. Jean was united in marriage to Philip “Bud” Stickney on July 10, 1947 in Mauston, WI. Together they farmed in the Orange Township for over 40 years. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church and of the Martha Circle in Camp Douglas for many years. She is survived by a son Dale (Sue) Stickney of Camp Douglas, WI, a daughter, Vicki (Ron) Chase of Tomah, WI, a daughter-in-law Barbara Stickney of Adams, OR, three sisters, Joyce (John) Mack of Traverse City, MI, Alva Douglas of Eau Claire, WI, and Joanne (Steve) Kramer of Elkhorn, WI, and by two brothers, Alvin Mortensen of New Lisbon, WI and Jack (Barbara) Mortensen of Madison, WI, and by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Bud” in 1996, a son Jerry and an infant son Carl, a sister-in-law Raynette Mortensen, and brother-in-law William Douglas. Memorials to the Agape Acres Assisted Living Center in Warrens, WI would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at 11:00am at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Camp Douglas, WI with Rev. Jeff Ruetten presiding. Burial will be in the Camp Douglas Village Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon on Thursday from 5:00pm till 8:00pm, and at the church on Friday from 10:00am till the time of service.
