Courtland – Bennie Charles “B. C.” Gray, 82, died October 18, 2009 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Minnie Story and Bennie Charles Gray, Sr. “B. C.” was predeceased by two brothers, Eppa and Raymond Gray, and five infant siblings. An Army veteran of the World War II, he was a retired equipment operator and a member of the Courtland Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Ann Tomlin Gray; four daughters, Connie Gray, Margie G. Davis (Bill), and Betty G. Davis (Lew), Lorrie McClenny (Tom); three sons, Wayne Gray (Peggy), Randy Gray (Sylvia), and Mickey Gray (Tammy); one sister, Carolyn Jernigan; one brother, Bobby Gray; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sidekick, Sport. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump officiating.
