Joe Floyd McAuliffe, Sr.

U.S. Veteran Mr. Joe Floyd McAuliffe, Sr. was born on Thursday, May 3, 1928, son of the late Ed Earl and Maggie Mae Baxter McAuliffe. Mr. McAuliffe died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR., at the age of 81 years 5 months and 10 days. He was born and a lifetime resident of Trumann, he worked for Crane Company for 29 years and retired as superintendent, a former supervisor for Parker Hannifin, was an avid fisherman, navy veteran of World War II Asian Pacific Campaign from 1944-46, receiving American Theater Medal, Asiatac Pacific Medal and Victory Medal and of the Baptist faith. Mr. McAuliffe was preceded in death by his wife Alma King McAuliffe, two brothers, three sisters and his parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Wroten of Madison, Miss., one son, Joe McAuliffe, Jr., of Trumann; four grandchildren Joe “J.T.” McAuliffe III, Melissa Knight, Rebecca Pagan and Stacy McAuliffe; and seven great-grandchildren, Sara Knight, Sydney Knight, Shelby Knight, Hannah Anderson, Cameron Pagan, Avery Pagan and Preslei Pagan.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Larry Loggins officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark.

Active Pallbearers will be J.T. McAuliffe, Tony Pagan, Jerry Lowery, Nicholas Lowery, Ken Montgomery, Jimmy Joe Chaffin.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
