Raymond Ward Rice
(July 18, 1919 - October 13, 2009)

U.S. Veteran Raymond Ward Rice of Harlan, died Tuesday, Oct 13. He was 90. He was born in Corvallis, to Ward and Margaret Rice. He served in the Navy during WWII from November 1941 to June 1945. He married Edna Clark Jones Wilson, June 25, 1946. She died Dec 24, 1996. He then married Laurabelle Roscoe on Aug 23, 1997. They lived in Harlan, then moved to Waldport in 2003. She died Dec 31, 2005. Soon after, he moved back to Harlan. He loved work and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed building planters out of willows. He is survived by children; Karilee Reedy, James Wilson, Steven Rice, Richard Rice, Elizabeth Ann Jones, 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Benton Hospice Services. Visitation will be from 10:00am at McHenry Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, Monday, Oct 19. Burial will follow at Harlan Cemetery. Rev. Bill Smith will officiate.
