He was born at Kirksville, Madison County, Kentucky, on August 25, 1925, to the late Emmitt and Elizabeth (Smith) Moberly. Mr. Moberly was a retired farmer and he retired from the Madison County Ambulance Service after 20 years of service. He was a Navy veteran who served during the Normandy Invasion in WWII. Mr. Moberly was a faithful member of the Kirksville Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Betty, he is survived by one son, Jonah Wayne Moberly; his sisters, Lora Johnson and Aline Vickers; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, P.C., J.B., Robert, and Woodrow Moberly, and one sister, Flora Bess.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie “Butch” Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randal Harvey, Donald Roberts, John Nugent, Carlos Coyle, Terrell Cobb and Russell Hurt. Honorary bearers will be members of the Kirksville Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class, as well as, Delbert Turner, Johnny Davis, Jean Gilliam, Wilma Witt, Wilma Rhodus, Frances King, David King, Vickie Hammonds and Sammy Hammonds
Visitation will be from 5 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
