Clara Florence Mejias

Clara Florence Mejias, 91, of Erie, formerly of Columbus, passed away October 8, 2009 at 6:22 pm in Fountainview of Monroe.

Born April 26, 1918, she was the daughter of James Edward Whitten and Mary Ollie Bruce. She married Raymon Mejias and sadly he preceded her in death on April 17, 1995.

Clara's time spent at Fountainview was full of activities. She was involved many things, including Busy Bee Crafts, she was a member of the resident council, she enjoyed coffee hour, music and exercising. Clara was also President of the Red Hat Club, she loved playing Bingo, Pokeno, Yahtzee and Trivia games. She was also a member of Bible Study where she was prayer leader.

Clara will be missed deeply by all her family and friends. She is survived by her granddaughters Christina (Mark) Hopings and Cindy Lynn Kleparek; grandson James Daniel Pless and Debora Adkins; a sister Mary Donna Lee; brother William Howard Whitten; great grandchildren Candis (Marcus Paoli) Kleparek, Ashlee Pless, Holly Pless, Katie Pless, James Hopings and Robby Kleparek; and 2 great great grandchildren Connor and Hunter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Marjorie Kincaide, 2 sons James L. Pless and James F. Pless, and a brother James E. Whitten.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00 am at Fountainview of Monroe, 1971 N. Monroe St.,. Arrangements were entrusted to Prochnow Funeral Home.
