(November 16, 1948 - October 8, 2009)

U.S. Veteran Gary Stephen Waller, 60 of Tulsa, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009. He was born November 16, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Richard and Thelma (Lipsinsky) Waller. Gary served in the US Army and was retired from the Tulsa Police Department. He then spent 20 years at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Gary never met a stranger. He made lifelong friends everywhere he went. He delighted in taking care of and spoiling his beloved wife. On any given day if he wasn’t cooking or satisfying his pallet at one of his favorite restaurants, you might find him helping a friend solve a computer problem for which he would only accept payment in the form of a good meal. The highlight of each year for Gary was the two months in the summer when his son would bring his granddaughters to visit. He adored them so. Gary was known for his honesty, ornery sense of humor and sincere care and concern for others. He will forever be loved and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Cameron Waller. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Penny Waller; son, Ryan Waller and wife, India; stepsons, Brad Ruttman and wife Stephanie, Zac Ruttman and Nathan Ruttman; treasured granddaughters, Ciera and Cassidy; step grandchildren, Adrienne, Josh, JJ, Christian, and Coleman; brothers, Craig Waller and wife, Debbie, Dan Waller, Doug Waller and wife, Patty; 3 nephews, 5 nieces and countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know him. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10AM Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church.
