Lear Katherine Adkisson

Lear Katherine Adkisson was born September 23, 1942, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to Henry C. and Leah S. (Chambers) Gross. She passed from this life at the Seiling Municipal Hospital October 2, 2009 at the age of 67 years.

Lear grew up at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and attended school at Sevierville, Tennessee.

Lear married Glenn Adkisson in September, 1959 at Remstein, Germany. To this union, five children were born: daughters, Diane, Leah, Glenda, and Sabrina; and son, Kenneth. Lear has lived in many places: Waterloo, Iowa, Roswell, New Mexico, Lothan, Maryland, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado.

Lear spent many years as a U.S. Postal worker, retiring after 31 years of service. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, writing poetry and Indian art. However, she received the most enjoyment from spending time with her family. After moving in with her daughter, Diane, she began attending the Church of the Nazarene in Vici, Oklahoma.

Lear was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leah Gross, brother Dwight Gross, and nephew Bruce Gross. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Brady of Vici, Oklahoma, Leah Stone of Rinneyville, Kentucky, Glenda Deshon of Pueblo, Colorado, and Sabrina Forrest of Madison, Alabama; son Kenneth Adkisson of Pueblo, Colorado, sister Diana Dorefer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, other family and a host of friends.
