Elmer F. Putnam, Jr.

U.S. Veteran Elmer Franklin Putnam, Jr., 90, of Keosauqua, IA, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA.

He was born on June 3, 1919 in What Cheer, IA, the son of Elmer Franklin Putnam, Sr. He married Vesta Jean Latcham. She preceded him in death in April of 2001.

Elmer was a veteran of the United States Army and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and three Bronze Stars. He had owned and operated The Chicken House restaurant in Kalona, IA for over 25 years.

He enjoyed fishing and baseball and was an avid New York Yankee Fan.

He is survived by two grandsons, Strider Putnam and his wife Tonya of Keosauqua, IA and Jackson Thomas of Story City, IA, four granddaughters, Ashley Putnam of W. Palm Beach, FL, Mara Putnam of Madison, WI, Jaymi Putnam of Oakville, IA, and Josey Putnam of Oakville, IA, six great grandchildren, Colton Putnam, Hayli Putnam, Cannon Putnam, Jeffery Putnam, Donavan Coffey and Gavin Coffey.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeff Putnam, a great granddaughter, Kassi Putnam and seven brothers and sisters.

There will be no service or visitation.
