A Celebration of Life service will be held for Rev. Shelton Zacharie, 79 on Saturday, October 10, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, New Iberia, LA with Rev. Gerard Scott, officiating.
He will await the resurrection at All Saints Cemetery, Loreauville, LA.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until the time.
A native of Loreauville and resident of Houston, TX Rev. Zacharie passed on Monday October 5, 2009, 9:40 p.m. at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Center. He was a veteran in the United States Army and employed as a truck driver for over 42 years. After retiring he later answered the call to the gospel, was ordained to do the work of God in the Houston area for more than 20 years.
He leaves in Gods care, one brother, Lawrence Zacharie, Sr., (Willie Mae) of Loreauville, LA; two sisters, Diane Julien (Ralph) of Loreauville, LA and Mable Provost of Beaumont, TX; two special nieces, Laura Carter of New Iberia, LA and Sylvia Boutte of Loreauville, LA who took care of him until he departed this life; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He now joins in glory with his wife, Dova Zacharie; daughter, Fayetta Zacharie; parents, Goldman Zacharie, Sr. and Mary Bolden Zacharie; one sister, Joyce Anthony; one brother, Goldman Zacharie, Jr. “Zack”
