Earl Owen King

Earl Owen King, age 44, of Santa Fe, TX., formerly of Alpena, passed away from this life on Friday, September 25, 2009. Earl was born on July 18, 1965 in Lubbock, TX. He grew up in the Carrollton Community and attended Green Forest Public Schools. Earl was employed as a truck driver for Venture Trucking out of St Louis, Missouri. He had worked several years in the family trucking business (Harrison Transport) before relocating to Texas, the state he loved. He was baptized in the Alpena Baptist Church when he was a young man. Earl had a passion for riding motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, son and brother. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Nelson and husband J.C. of Berryville, one son Ruben King, of Alpena (currently stationed at Quantico, Virginia) grandaughter, Julia Reagan Nelson of Berryville, mother Janie King, of Alpena, two brothers, Reggie King and wife Ladonna, of Alpena and Keith King and wife Frances Sue, of Alpena, Casey and James Gatlin and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud King in 2007. Celebration Of Life Service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest. Brother Jerry Scitern will officiate and interment will follow at Carrollton Cemetery. Visitation, 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 29 at the funeral home.
