Rev. Randy Lee Jeffers, age 69 of Hampton, GA, formerly of Oneida, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care in Stockbridge, GA.
Born April 20, 1945 in Oneida, Scott County, TN, he was the son of the late James Hoyal Jeffers and Jean DeBord Jeffers. Randy was a member of the Woolsey Baptist Church, a Veteran of the USAF retired after 20 years, having served during the Vietnam War, and served as a member of the Honor Guards.
He was known world-wide for his amazing carvings of staffs, canes and woodworks of all kinds. Randy served his Lord and Savior by pastoring two churches, serving as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher, as well as traveling on several mission trips to Uganda where he served on the Board of Directors for the Uganda Royal School and Orphanage, and with the Josh McDowell Ministries to Russia and Ukraine, and joining the Bill Glass Prison Ministry.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Cecil and Lila Irene Terry Blankenship; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Freda Blankenship Smith and husband J. W. Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Etta Marie Blankenship Jeffers; two sons: Tyler Lee Jeffers of Oneida, TN, and Travis Randy Jeffers of Hampton, GA; three grandchildren: Braeden Michael Jeffers, Connor Thomas Jeffers and Addison Leigh Jeffers, all of Oneida, TN; brother: Roger H. Jeffers of Oneida, TN; sisters: Terrie J. Cross and Cathy J. Burke, both of Oneida, TN, and Doris J. Clayton and husband John of Gatlinburg, TN; brothers-in-law: Milton Blankenship and wife Linda of Whitley City, KY, and Terry Willard Blankenship and wife Nancy of Fairfield Bay, AR; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Woolsey Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Chuck Chambers officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church in Oneida, TN on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Chuck Chambers officiating. Music will be provided by the New Haven Singers.
Randy will be laid to rest on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 1:30 pm in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Hwy., in Knoxville, TN with full Military Honors.
