Albert Kenneth Halfyard of Evart passed away Friday August 22, 2014 at his home at Lake Miramichi. He was 82. Mr. Halfyard was born September 22, 1931 in Detroit to George William & Edna (Butt) Halfyard. Albert graduated from Redford Union High School in 1949. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War where he served in U.S. Navy Aviation. He married Jeananne Widmer March 26, 1971 in Dearborn, Michigan. Albert worked as an engineer for Sinai Hospital in Detroit for 23 years and retired from Southfield to Lake Miramichi near Evart in 2003. Mr. Halfyard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Evart. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed nature and animals, a creative builder and fixer, and loved his dogs, which were many throughout his lifetime. Albert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeananne Halfyard of Evart, 2 daughters, Allison (Thomas) Duchene of Macomb, Jaki (Richard Abbott) Main of Bangor, 2 sons, John (Patty) Widmer of Novi, Jeff (Sooze) Widmer of Augusta, MI, 10 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Harriet, and 2 brothers, Oliver and George. Mr. Halfyard will be buried in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 1:00pm September 2, 2014. Meet at the Staging area/Front entrance at 12:45pm, Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012. A luncheon will follow services at VFW Post 7956, 1354 M 96, Augusta, MI 49012.
