Margaret Krajcik

Margaret (Peggy) Nelson Krajcik, widow of Edward A. Krajcik went home to be with the lord on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Shady Knoll Health Center in Seymour. Peggy was the fifth child born to Swedish immigrants Carl and Ida Nelson on October 22, 1920 in Bridgeport, CT. She was a member of Stratford Baptist Church for several years and was active in the woman’s Bible Study, the women’s circle and participated in the choir for the Easter and Christmas cantatas. She was also a member of the Grange, Historical Society and Baldwin Center. She worked side by side with her husband at Pollock’s Pharmacy in Stratford. She then went on to Stratford Builders as a bookkeeper and finally the bakery at Stop and Shop until she retired at 75. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and even driving the oldest great-granddaughter home from nursery school. She treasured spending time with her family and hosted Sunday and holiday dinners. Christmas Eve was a “smorgasbord”. She was proud of her Swedish heritage and her Swedish meatballs and “Spritz” s always a hit. Peggy is survived by her loving family, daughter; Janice (Bill) Zuscin of Stratford and her son David E. (Mariellen) Krajcik of Seymour, 5 grandchildren; Brent, Jill, Carrie, Joel and Jamie. 5 great grandchildren; Jacquelyn, Lily, Ava, Dylan and Leah. She is also survived by her sisters in law; Elizabeth Olson, Marilyn Krajcik, Rosalie Krajcik and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. Krajcik, her parents and her siblings; Hilda Bjorklund, Gus Nelson, Helen Mott and Vernon Nelson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Shady Knoll, especially Prudence, Theresa, Kate, Meghan, Erika, Aurea and countless others including Vitas Hospice. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 12:00 pm at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford with Rev. Ariel Heriveaux officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 10:30 am until time of services.
