Eva Lois Kirby

Eva L. Kirby, 87, of rural Urbana a former Paxton resident died at 9:38 a.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Country Health Nursing Home of Gifford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Charlie McDonald and Pastor Jacob Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (August 20) at the funeral home.

Eva was born October 1, 1926 in Neoga a daughter of Lewis and Eva Gertrude Kingery Brown. She married Laurence Kirby April 4, 1947 in the Methodist Church Parsonage, Paxton.

She is survived by her husband, Laurence; a daughter, Connie (Gary) Jordan of Missouri; two sons, Eugene Kirby of Champaign; Larry (Jennifer) Kirby of Rantoul; three grandsons, Jacob, Joshua and Matthew Jordan; one granddaughter, Fallon Kirby; two great grandsons, Nikolas and Lucas Jordan; one great granddaughter, Lily Grace Jordan; three sisters, Annabelle Anderson of Paxton, Beverly Brown of East Peoria, Patsy (Roy) Elliott of Paxton; two brothers, Jewel (Jacqueline) Brown of Bourbonnais and Lewis (Corinne) Brown Jr. of Paxton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and three brothers.

Eva graduated from Paxton High School in 1945. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Eva and her husband moved from Paxton to the Champaign-Urbana area in 1958. She enjoyed getting together with classmates, canning, cleaning, cooking, bird watching, and gardening and always took pride in her flower beds.
