Jerome Henderson age, 68 of Paxton passed away August 15, 2014. He was born August 30, 1945 in Covington County to Gordon and Perlie Alberson Henderson. Jerome graduated from Walton County High School in 1964 and joined the U.S. Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then returned home and worked as an mechanic for many local business. In 1967 he married his soul mate and best friend, Peggy Senn Henderson. Nothing was more important to Jerome as his family. He cherished the times he spent with his sons. He loved Alabama football and its rich traditions and enjoyed sharing that love with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his fruit trees. Jerome and his family have been members of Gaskin Baptist Church for many years and his faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he bravely fought many health issues. He fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Peggy Senn Henderson of Paxton, three sons, Gary Henderson and his wife Ann of Walton County, Brian Henderson and Josh Berry both of Paxton, grandchildren, Jackie and Jeromie Simmons, sister Helen Carpenter of Mossey Head, FL, brother, Austin Henderson and his wife Barbara of Gaskin, FL. He is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews. Jerome also leaves behind his beloved dog Rowdy. He was preceded in death by father, Gordon A Henderson; mother, Perlie Alberson Henderson; two brothers, Henry and Charles Henderson.
Funeral services for Jerome Henderson will be 2PM Sunday August 17, 2014 from Gaskin Baptist Church with Tucker Aplin and Randal Harrison officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7PM at Evans Funeral Home in Florala. Interment will be in the Gaskin Cemetery.
