Beverly Y. Grier, Hallstead, died Sunday at home after an illness. Her husband is Stanley E. Grier. The couple would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on October 6th.

Born in Owego, NY, daughter of the later Everett R. and Geraldine Hart Thompson, she was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Hillcrest, NY, educated in Montrose public schools and Montrose High School, and BOCES adult education in Binghamton NY, where she received a degree as a licensed practical nurse. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Broome Developmental Center in Binghamton. Beverly enjoyed quilting and was a master pie baker. She won fifteen years in a row for first place at the Montrose Apple Festival, and also States in her teen years for apple dumplings. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed. To her, family always came first. She also had great love for her dog Molly.

Also surviving are two daughters Deborah J. Winans and husband John W., Montrose; Doreen Y. Armitage and husband Matthew, and her friend Jim, all of Hallstead; two sons, David S. Grier and wife Jodi, Binghamton NY and Stanley D. Grier, at home; four grandsons Michael Grier, Jonathan Winans and Morgan, Jason Winans and wife Amanda, and Brian Grier; four great grandchildren, Nicholas Grier, Travis Grier, Jack Winans and Jonathan Winans; three brothers, Ernest, Rodney, and Ronald Thompson, all of Hallstead; four sisters, Barbara Heath, Patricia Moody, Linda Burgess, and Dawn Smith, all of Hallstead; nieces, nephews, and cousins

She was preceded in death by two brothers Kenneth and Earl Thompson; a sister Bonnie Suchocki

The funeral will be Thursday at 1pm in the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, 232 S. Main St., Montrose PA with services by Asst Pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, Elizabeth Criscuolo. Interment, Brookdale Cemetery, Lawsville. Friends may call from 11am until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr, Wilkes Barre PA 18702
