Bruce William Falconer

Bruce W. Falconer, Age 72, of Minerva, went home to heaven surrounded by his family on August 11, 2014 in Aultman Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1941 in East Liverpool to Robert and Myrtle (Boyd) Falconer. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1959 and attended Ohio State University where he met his wife of nearly 50 years, Sue (Leishman) Falconer whom he married Dec. 19, 1964. He also studied at Kent State University. Bruce was a longtime member of the Bayard United Methodist Church, the West Township Ruritan Club and the Carroll County Antique Tractor Association and was best known as the “Voice of the Tractor Pulls” in Columbiana, Carroll and surrounding counties, having announced for many years. Mr. Falconer retired from PCC Airfoils, formerly TRW in Minerva and maintained a small farm until his last illness. After retirement, he worked part time for Unkefer Equipment in Minerva as a salesman. All who knew him will remember a hardworking, honest man who took pride in his work and family. He enjoyed attending horse shows in years past and especially his tractor pulls. Bruce leaves behind his wife, Sue and two children; Robert (Tammy Harris) Falconer of Paris and Christine Falconer Yoder (Jeffery Yoder) of Carrollton; 2 grandchildren, Rachelle J. (Tommy) Smith and Ryan Falconer both of Minerva; sister, Mary K. Rush of Pinehurst, NC, a brother and sister-in-law, James A and Joyce Falconer of Minerva; three nephews, Todd (Julie) Rush of Chevy Chase, MD, Dan (Mary Katherine) Rush of Pinehurst, NC and Josh (Gina) Falconer of Alliance; niece, Jodi (Garrett) Powers of Hanoverton; two great grandchildren, Connor Michael Smith and Clara Jenee Smith and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 5-8 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bayard United Methodist Church.
