Maggie Wynn Browning, 89, of Evarts, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital. Born September 3, 1924 in Harlan County, Maggie had lived here most of her life. She was a member of the River Ridge Baptist Church and had worked with the Harlan County Senior Citizens for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Browning; her parents, David Wynn and Ellen Cheek Wynn; a daughter, Elizabeth Lewis; a grandson, Jamie Lewis; a great-great-grandson, Derik James Hansen; two sisters, Juanita “Bonnie” Johnson and Alphia Wynn; and two brothers, Garrett and Denver Wynn.
Survivors include her son, Charles Browning, Sr. and wife, Barbara, Myrtle Beach, SC; a son-in-law, Shirley Lewis, Verda; 11 grandchildren, Ken Lewis and wife, Di; Pam Dean and husband Paul; Tammy Coots and husband, Joel; Gary Lewis; David Lewis and wife, Lisa; Carol Kot and husband Kevin; Alaina Gail Gubecka, and husband, Marty; Robin Hansen and husband, Don; Charles Browning, Jr., David Browning and Dawn Sterling and husband Tim; 36 great-grandchildren; 51 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends after 6 pm Wednesday at the River Ridge Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 14, 2014, at 11 am at the church with the Reverend Bill Moore and the Reverend Ken Lewis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
