U.S. Veteran

A funeral service for Earl R. Weber, 89 of Newark will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor William Wayt officiating. Burial will be in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Weber died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born the youngest of nine children on May 22, 1925 in Lewisville, OH to David and Clara (Yoho) Weber.

Mr. Weber retired as a carpenter from Mason & Isabelle Construction Company in Columbus. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local # 136. He was a member of the Wright Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He constructed all the family homes. He and his wife had traveled extensively during retirement. They visited many European countries, Hawaii and enjoyed trips to the Amish communities. He attended and encouraged his grandchildren during their sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen (Stimpert) Weber, whom he married on July 15, 1944; children, Gregory (Cheryl) Weber of Medina, Joyce (Ron) Butcher of Newark; Linda Miller of Johnstown; grandchildren, Craig (Heather Arms) Weber, Melissa Weber, Justin (Megan) Butcher, Meghan (Howie) Bretz, Carmen Arter, Travis (Kim) Arter; great-grandchildren, Derrick, Taylor, Abigail, Attyleigh, Ryan, Tyler, Alison; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Raymond, Floyd, Ervin, Willard, Lawrence, Viola, Zelda, Lori.

Calling hours will be observed Thursday, August 14, 2014 from noon to 1 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main St.

The family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
