Paula Ethel Zegelien

Paula E. Zegelien, 72, of Riley Twp., died Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born September 5, 1941 to the late Daniel & Hazel Norris. Paula graduated from Pershing High School, Detroit. Paula married Dorman Zegelien on May 15, 1964 in Westland, Michigan. He died February 19, 1994. Mrs. Zegelien was the Riley Township Assessor for over 30 years. She was a member of the Michigan Assessor Association, worked diligently on the elections for Riley Twp. and for the Riley Twp. Park and Recreation Department. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, St. Clair County Farm Museum and the Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, shopping, and traveling. Most of all, Paula was very devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Bill (Melanie) of Kimball, Daniel of Boynton Beach, Florida, Jonathan (Kelly) of Chesapeake, Virginia; step-children, Barbara (Tim) Munyan of Clawson, Debbie (Rick) Moskwa of Rochester Hills, and David and Michael, both from Clawson; and an honorary son, Tony Scarcella; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Paula was also preceded in death by a sister, Jane Ellen McIntyre on December 24, 1985 and a grandson, Ricky on May 5, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in Kammeraad-Merchant Funeral Home, Memphis. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday with an Order of Eastern Star service at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Memphis Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association.
