Francis "Fritz" Simola, 71, of Jeannette, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, at his residence. He was born December 4, 1942 in Greensburg, a son of the late Frank and Myrtle Struble Simola. Prior to his retirement Fritz was a police officer for the City of Jeannette. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and served during the Cuban missile crisis and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the FOP Allegheny Valley Lodge #39, the American Legion Post #344, the Irwin Sportsman?s Club and the National Rifle Association. Fritz was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents Fritz was predeceased by his step mother Helen S. Simola, and a brother Andrew Mack.
He is survived by his wife Cassandra Carasia Simola; his children, Toni Grubor and husband Jonathan of North Huntingdon, Michael J. Simola of Youngwood and Brandon F. Simola of Jeannette; grandchildren, Austin, Zachary and Emily Rae; a brother John Mack and wife Vivian of Pittsburgh; sisters, Violet Bevan of Jeannette and Darlene Croyle and husband Bud of North Huntingdon; his mother in law Alexandria Carasia of Jeannette; a sister in law Patricia Mack of North Huntingdon; a brother in law Kenny Carasia and wife Cindy of Jeannette and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Sunday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. The FOP Lodge #39 will hold services 7:30pm Sunday in the funeral home. A funeral service will take place 10:00am Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Dr. Rev. Donn Ed officiating. Interment with military honors accorded by the Jeannette Combined Veterans will follow in the Jeannette Memorial Park, Penn Twp.
