ELSIE FIORINA - JEANNETTE, PA Elsie J. Fiorina, 90, of Jeannette passed away peacefully on August 3, 2014 at Concordia of Cranberry Personal Care Home. May she forever rest in the arms of her dear Lord.
Elsie was born October 3, 1923 in Greensburg PA, the youngest child of the late Remo and Rosa (Bonavia) Galetto. She graduated in 1941 from Greensburg High School. During WWII she proudly served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol wherein, for a time, she flew single engine aircraft. She was also briefly employed at Porcelier Manufacturing Company, South Greensburg. On September 11, 1948 Elsie married Samuel J. Fiorina of West Jeannette.
From 1962 until her retirement in 1993 Elsie was an elementary school teacher at Sacred Heart School, Jeannette PA, a vocation she truly loved. As a working mother, she earned a BA degree from Seton Hill College in 1974 and a Master?s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Ascension Catholic Church in Jeannette. She was also a member of the Westmoreland Literary Council. In her retirement years Elsie loved to tutor, read, cook, garden and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Samuel on December 21, 2007, her grandson Benjamin Fiorina on September 8, 2011, two brothers Thomas Bertolino and Fred Galetto; and seven sisters Josephine Occhuizzo, Lydia Farzatti, Helen Mazilli, Jenny Joseph, Mamie Repasky, Adeline Germano, and child Jenny. She is survived by three sons Gary Fiorina, (Wilma), of Latrobe PA, Gregg Fiorina (Sue) of Cranberry Twp. PA, and Randal Fiorina of Boynton Beach FL; her sister Mary Miliotis of Greensburg PA, as well as 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express its gratitude to all of the good people at Concordia of Cranberry for the wonderful care they provided to mom.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 228 North 2nd St. Jeannette. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30am Saturday in the Ascension Church with Fr. Paul A. Lisik as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hempfield Twp.
