Religious Duties and Assignment: Minister of the Gospel (began at a very early age), multiplicity of Missionary work abroad (Cape Town, South Africa, Dominica West Indies, Salt Cay Islands)

In the States: Minister of the West End Church of Christ in New Braunfels, Texas for 30 years.

Served in Yorktown, Texas, Goliad, Texas, Giddings, Texas, Elgin, Texas as well as home congregations here in San Antonio, Texas, West Laurel Street Church of Christ and Dellcrest Church of Christ. Duties included: Minister, Baptizer, Benevolence Administrator, Bus Ministry and Van Driver, Personal Evangelism, and many others.

Last of the original men who started this great work in Eastside San Antonio.

Education: Sandy Grove School, Phillis Wheatley High School, San Antonio College and St. Philips College.

Employment: United States Army (World War II Veteran), served as Chaplain receiving an Honorable Discharge after his tour of duty, Alamo Iron Works, Civil Service, Kelly AFB (40 years) retired as Foreman, received numerous honors and recognition for outstanding job performance.

Special Organization: Disable Veteran (DAV)

Mr. Abraham Davis, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, A.R. “Jack” and Mary Washington Davis; brothers, J.B. Davis and Alvin Davis; sister, Nettie Bell Benson and his only daughter “Baby Girl” Davis.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely wife of 57 years, Mae Ella Davis; 4 sons, Edward Davis (Carolyn), Abraham Davis, Jr., Raynard Davis (Phyllis) and Christopher Davis; Sister, Virginia Bell (his last surviving sibling of A.R. “Jack” Davis and Mary Davis); 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
