CLAIR “MUTTS “ BISHOP SR.
Clair “Mutts” Bishop Sr., 84, of Spring Valley, died at 3:01 PM on August 4, 2014 at St. Margaret Hospital in Spring Valley.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 8, at the Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley with Pastor David Ross and Fred Laughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery with full military graveside rites by the Ladd American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the funeral home, with a Spring Valley American Legion service at 6:00 PM.
He was born on March 25, 1930 in Spring Valley to Irvine F. and Mildred Seibert Bishop. He married Mary Charlotte Story on October 6, 1956 in Hennepin.
He had worked in the Spring Valley School system as a maintenance man and retired from Hall High School in 1994 where he was the head custodian. He then worked part-time at the Spring Valley Super Wash. He was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion, V.F.W. and the Rice River Boys. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army from 1948 to 1951.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Charlotte Bishop of Spring Valley; a son, Clair Bishop Jr. of Princeton; a brother, Kenneth ( Barb) Bishop of Granville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family to establish a scholarship fund for Hall High School students.
