Junior E. Brawley, of Lindsay, passed away July 25, 2014 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years.
He was born December 2, 1939 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Thomas Woodrow and Onellia (Wright) Brawley
He was raised in Paoli and is a graduate of the Paoli High School. In 1958 he joined the U. S. Navy and served his country until his discharge in 1964. During that time he was serving on the USS Saratoga when, on January 23, 1961, a fire broke out in the #2 Machinery Space kiling 7 crew members.
Junior worked many years until his retirement as a Welder in the Oil Fields. Lindsay has been his home for over 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Baker.
Surviving family include his son, James R. Brawley and his wife, Kathleen, of Pauls Valley; two grandchildren, Toshua and Jimmy; James' mother, Barbara Brawley, all of Pauls Valley; brothers and sisters, Virginia Schehl and Nell Hill of Wayne; Denzil Brawley and his wife, Peggy, of Paoli; James Brawley and his wife,Lenda, of Oklahoma City; Terry Brawley and his wife, Betty, of Lindsay; and Jerry Don Brawley of Wayne; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Special thanks are sent to his sisters, Virginia and Nell, for their love and care that they have given Junior's during his illness.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:00 am at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Terry Erwin. Interment will be at Paoli Cemetery.
