Home going celebration for Mr. Floyd B. Brewington, Sr. who passed away in Miami, Florida on July 7, 2014 will be held on Saturday, July 19 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1207 N. Jefferson Street, Tampa, Florida with Rev. Andre Saunders, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Tampa, FL with Military Honors.
Mr. Brewington was preceded in death by his parents, James F. (Madalene) Brewington, Sr.;brothers, James F. Brewington, Jr. and Henry McNeil; sister-in-law, Inez McNeil; uncle-in-law, John Wallace; in-law, Colletti Warren; step-parents, Ovida D. Harris; son, Althos E. Brewington.
He leaves to mourn his passing sons, Floyd Brewington, Jr. wife, Annie of Miami, Florida and Artie M. Brewington and his mother, RaRa Martinez both of Tampa; daughters, Elaine Brewington and Anthony Knowles, Miami, Sedecia Everett and husband, Aaron of Tampa; grandchildren, Bernadine LaShawn Tejeda and husband, Robert; great grandchildren, Leticia Teheda, Christian Tejeda and Ezequiet Tejeda; aunts, Vivian Archer and husband James, Jr.; niece, Mary Brewington; nephews, James F. Brewington, III (Leslie) and their children of Orlando; grandnephew,Lajean Brewington; cousins, Joe Brown, Debra Warren, Wilma Brown and family; in-laws, Kate Condra ,Vinnie and Rudolph Smith, Remona Smith and family, Lois Everett and family, Robert Warren; step parents, Evelen Arline and Alice Johnson; friends including, Harriet Allen, Ena Everett, Fannie Mae, Mrs. Davis, Irene Harris, Louise Harris, Mr. Lewis, Tan Everett, Ms. Flora, Greater Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and other relatives and friends.
A native of Perry, Florida Mr. Brewington resided in the Tampa area for a number of years. He was a World War II Army Veteran having served honorably in the US Army. He was also a member of the Core of Army Engineers and a retired educator. He was a teacher at Greco Middle School and C. Leon King High School. Mr. Brewington attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia.
There will be a viewing on Friday, July 17, 2014 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL.
