Luther Winters, Jr., passed away on July 14, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple TX.
A long-time resident of Killeen, he was born on July 13, 1932 in Charleston Mississippi.
Luther proudly served in the United States Army Infantry Corp. During his service he served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired with an Honorable Discharge in 1978. After his retirement from the United States Army, he continued to serve his country by working in the Medical Supply Division at Darnell Army Community Hospital until his retirement from there in 1997. He remained active in Veteran related groups and causes, including but not limited to, the V.F.W, D.A.V., and the Wounded Warrior Project, until his passing.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Huguette Michelle Winters; children, Robert Winters, Willie B. Winters, Teretha Winters, Pearson Winters, and Dorothy Winters; step-children, Pascale Harvey and son-in-law Mark Beverly, Frank Harvey and daughter-in-law Yvette Harvey; granddaughter, Naysha Manning; sister, Dorothy Bowman and brother-in-law John Bowman.
Funeral Services will be at 11AM on Monday, July 21, at Killeen Memorial Park, Lake Rd. A visitation will be held immediately prior to the service from 10-11AM. Services have been entrusted to Killeen Memorial Funeral Home.
