Warren H. Reininga, age 93 of Athens died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born Nov. 1, 1920 in Darmstadt, Indiana, he was the son of the late Henry Otto & Amelia Wegener Reininga.
He was a graduate of Evansville College with a Degree in Accounting and received his M.B.A. from Indiana University. He retired from the Ohio University College of Business as a Professor of Accounting. He was also a Certified Public Accountant. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Athens. He served as Treasurer for The Gathering Place and Treasurer for Ohio N.A.M.I. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving with the Headquarters of the 9th Air Force Service Command in the European Theatre.
Warren is survived by four sons- Mark (Stephanie) Reininga, M.D. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Paul Reininga of Athens, Eric (Joyce Mitchell) Reininga, Ph.D. of Sacramento, Calif., and Jon (Nikki Rodriquez) Reininga of S. Orange, N.J.; He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Deane M. “Gussie” Gustafson Reininga and a sister, Ruth Dennis.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, at 2:00pm at the Christ Lutheran Church, Mill St., Athens with Pastor Linea Warmke officiating. Interment of his ashes will take place following the service at 4:00pm at Athens Memory Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards at the cemetery. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
